Hello, i wonder if it is acceptable to buy my own modem instead of paying the expensive rent for cyta's one?

Hello,

You are not paying any rent for the adsl modem. What you pay to Cyta is for the i-choice service.

You could buy your own modem but you would still have to pay the exact same amount to Cyta anyway. Also keep in mind that if you use your own modem then you will have to configure it yourself and Cyta might not be able to provide support to you for it.

i was having the same question my self couple of years ago. It will wont work mostly because it will lack its configuration file which cyta installs on their routers before you go and get one for home.
If you somehow manage to extract that information and manually configure the router thru telnet and so on, your device still it wont work because the device will not  (it will fails to) register on cytas network.
Cutting a long story, short if your ISP is cyta i-Choice not paying the rent is inevitable.
