Title: Cablenet HD channels Post by: efrem on March 08 2009 10:59am couple of days ago I went for the cablenet HD channels package.
After paying 50 euros for the decoder i went home and installed it. Nothing happened. I scanned all the frequencies available in order to find the channels but nothing. After contacting cablenet, they decided to e-mail me the appropriate settings for the device. Going thru the settings it worked and i saw HD for the fist time with out using my blu-ray player. But my joy did not last long as i am probably having reception or signal strength problems and now am not receiving nothing else except 2 channels. The rest of them display No access watermark. Working and searching i don't even found how to delete channels that are not speaking English like italian or something. I guess that is a problem with the devices firmware. Does anyone having problems with that also? Title: Re: Cablenet HD channels Post by: surfer on March 08 2009 11:59am All digital channels have been encrypted and you need to insert a smartcard in your HD box. Customer support must have contacted you to collect your smartcard in order to be able to receive all the channels.
The new digital service will be officially launched April 1st with the addition of more channels on the digital lineup. I guess you need to call them in order to make sure your card is inserted correctly (The pins should face up) and make sure the card is paired to your box Title: Re: Cablenet HD channels Post by: efrem on March 10 2009 05:00am Signal is 87-88%
Quality is between 99 and 100% yeah the card is paired to my box and i can see ONLY the HD channels but i not the other ones. Are you working for cablenet or you got the HD channels yourself? Title: Re: Cablenet HD channels Post by: Doondass on March 20 2009 11:41am How many HD channels does Cablenet offer? What are they? And how much extra does the service cost per month?
I can't find any detailed information about Cablenet's HD package anywhere, on the website it just says that Cablenet is the only pay TV operator in Cyprus to offer HDTV. Does anyone have a link to more information? Thanks Title: Re: Cablenet HD channels Post by: efrem on March 22 2009 08:36am HD chanells from cablenet are all the usual channels on their packages + 2 Full HD channels (luxe HD and Eurosport HD)
In addition to that all the channels can be upscaled to 1080i with the decoder they provide you for 50 euros and that includes no monthly fee until the end of 2009. The information on their website will be available in April as they will start offer this from April + some new contend and channels. their cable hd box is the following : http://www.kaonmedia.com/eng/product/view.php?org_num=177 which retails for about 180 euros and you get it for 50. The cable box except from the splendid HD quality tru HDMI also has a loop interface so you can send the signal tru coaxial to another tv in the house. Testing it, i found that not only offers amazing picture quality but also you been able to watch independent Chanels on each tv which is a great feature Title: Re: Cablenet HD channels Post by: Doondass on March 24 2009 06:37am That's really helpful, thanks very much.

Title: Re: Cablenet HD channels Post by: Sophocles on May 15 2009 04:06am I too bought the EUR 50 decoder.
I too got no channels in the beginning. I called them and they gave me the correct frequencies. I searched and found the channels. After a few days of working fine, some channels get "stuck". I can hear the voice but the picture does not change. This occurs with certain channels. Mainly the local Signa and Ant1. I watch CNBC and no problems. I am really annoyed. I called them and they told me that they see the signal coming to my house and it must be my house's wiring. I told them it was working fine but ignored that fact. They told me it could be the connector or fuse or practically anything and that they have no resposibility and I should get an electrician to check it out. My neighbour got an electric company that works with cablenet to check out his wiring and they quoted him EUR 600 to redo his wiring! Also if in the future he wanted to change he would have to redo his wiring as the wires are specific for cablenet. What bullshit! I am so pissed off. These guys truely suck. No help at all. I am not sure what to do. I have the cablenet cable connected to a signal booster and from there I got the wires that go to all the rooms in my house. I changed the connector as the cablenet tech support suggested but no change. I am thinking that perhaps I need a stronger signal booser. Don't know.... Any suggestions? Also, any clue as to why some channels are fine but others get stuck? Title: Re: Cablenet HD channels Post by: surfer on May 15 2009 07:56am I too bought the EUR 50 decoder. The channels were scrambled not so long ago and you need a smartcard to decode Title: Re: Cablenet HD channels Post by: Sophocles on May 15 2009 08:31am Of course I have the card in. Please re-read the post.
As I said in the post, I could see the channels. The problem is that certain channels get stuck. There is no problem with the card or my subscription. I believe the problem is that some of the channel's quality fluctuates alot while others don't (eg. Al Jazira is fantastic while Sigma sucks). Title: Re: Cablenet HD channels Post by: Sophocles on May 18 2009 01:37am Ok guys, I final found the problem and got it fixed.
Thanks to all who msged me! I have only watched for a day, but if you have Cablenet and can connect it then I recommend it. I have heard from Cablenet that this summer they will be changing all their packages and that the HD will be made a requirement if you want to get anything more than Cypriot channels. They told me that the fee difference will not be significant to make u want to change services. Title: Re: Cablenet HD channels Post by: efrem on May 19 2009 06:19am i got the same problem back them. I phoned them and told them to send me the settings with email. And they did in PDF. Unfortunately i dont have the email to attach it.
I got 81% signal and 99-100% quality |
