Title: Cablenet: 5Mbps for 39, 10Mbps for 69 Post by: Admin on July 09 2009 09:40am From the beginning of this month Cablenet (http://www.cyprusbroadband.net/cablenet.html) has upgraded its packages by offering faster internet connection speed at the same price.
The 2Mbps Internet connection is upgraded to 5Mbps and the 4Mbps internet connection is upgraded to 10Mbps. This makes Cablenet easily the first broadband choice for the (limited) areas where the service is available. On the other hand though Rogers in canada which is a cable provider like Cablenet rolls out 50Mbps DOCSIS 3.0 service with free 802.11n router showing the possibilities over cable. Imagine that speeds

Impressive!!! but don't you need Docsis 3.0 cable modems for that? I know that can not be done from a software/firmware upgrade

I know that can not be done from a software/firmware upgrade Yes this is correct. Docsis 3.0 modems are needed in order to deliver services with download speeds greater than 50mbit. Otherwise, existing modems will register on a Docsis3.0 service in docsis2.0 mode (backwards compatibility). We live in Vergina and I am trying to obtain UK TV via my computer and at the moment I have CETA broadband which keeps freezing and often does not even load. I use a portal system that I subscibe to and can get BBC iplayer and the ITV version, but I can hardly watch anything.
My broadband states that it is 54.0Mbps when I highlight the icon at the bottom of the screen, so I am not sure what 2Mbps and 4Mbps relate to with Cablenet and Primtel. I have enquired with both companies to see if they have their service in this area and they both do. So would I be better off getting cablenet installed? We have only been in this house since July 1st and had to have CYTA reconnected from our other place. We have kept our same phone number, but really need to get the TV sorted out. We did have a dreambox system before, but it is no longer available so we have been told, so the only way we can get UK channels with a huge Dish is from the internet. So can someone please suggest a reasonable system that will do the job with costing a fortune each month? Thanks in Advance David Title: Re: Cablenet: 5Mbps for 39, 10Mbps for 69 Post by: efrem on September 21 2009 11:20am well if your area is wired with Cablenet i strongly suggest that you subscribe with them. As far as the channels you will be able to receive lots of them with cablenet or if you stick with cyta you can add myvison which are the Tv chanells with Cyta. Of course if you like satellite you will be able to receive the channels that you want with out a big dish.
I don't know for sure if your portal with BBC is going to work outside Uk. |
