Title: Remove the WPA protection of my router PrimeTel Post by: sebaf on October 13 2007 04:49am Hello !
I have a new wireless connection with PrimeTel and I try to connect to the router (to remove the WPA protection) at http://192.168.2.1 but I don't know the login/password to log in and this is not the default one ! I suppose PrimeTel set the same login/password on each of its router and perhaps they won't give these to their customers ? Is there anyone who know these ? I hope you will be able to help me and thank you in advance ! Title: Re: Remove the WPA protection of my router PrimeTel Post by: Admin on October 13 2007 08:25am Hello sebaf,
I believe you should give PrimeTel customer support a try first. What is the reason that you want to disable WPA? Title: Re: Remove the WPA protection of my router PrimeTel Post by: falconcy on October 13 2007 11:29am Removing the WPA might not be a good idea, are you planning on offering a free for all wifi network to anybody else in the immediate area? Securing your wifi is the same as locking your house or your car. If you are having connectivity issues here, post the problem and someone will try to help you out.

In fact I would like to remove the WPA protection because one of my roomate can't access to the Internet with the WPA protection. Moreover, I think this protection makes the network slow and I would prefer the WEP protection (although I know WPA is a better protection). I ever asked PrimeTel but they told me that I CAN'T do this with their router. It's forbidden... I rent them a router and I can't change the protection ! It's a bit special ! When I rent a car, they don't tell me that I can't change the gear... Thanks in advance if you have an idea (of course I could buy an other router but I don't really want to spend more money.) |
