Title: Moving to Liopetri Post by: wricotmw on July 22 2008 02:45pm I am moving to live in Cyprus at the end of September and need a good internet connection pretty soon after. I am not sure what the position is with the telephone connection to the house yet. Can anyone give me any idea of the possibilities in the Liopetri area? Is MTN 3G likely to work in the area as a temporary fix?
Title: Re: Moving to Liopetri Post by: Admin on July 22 2008 06:05pm Hello,
Liopetri is covered by i-choice so when you get a phone line you should be able to get ADSL (unless you live too far from the telephone exchange). I am not sure if MTN 3G covers the area. The coverage map they give on their website is not very precise: (http://www.mtn.com.cy/_userimages/3Gcoverage.jpg) Judging from the above map Liopetri does not fall within the areas that they cover. You should contact them directly and maybe they will be able to tell you if that area is covered or not. If 3G is not available then the only true broadband solution would be a Satellite connection, but probably you will not want to spend all that money in equipment for somehting that will be only temporary. I know that in a few areas around Cyprus some small companies or individuals share via wireless their satellite connections. Maybe there is somebody in Liopetri that does this (although I am not sure if it legal) If all of the above fail then connecting through GPRS might be your only option. This solution will be slow and rather expensive but using onspeed can make it more tolerable. Title: Re: Moving to Liopetri Post by: efrem on July 30 2008 03:55pm the only platform that is covered in liopetri is Broadband CYTA i-choice
for 1Mbps is aproximately 60euros per month including land line fee ichoice and passwords althought Cyta is the most expensive GPRS, 3G, HSDPA, EDGE will cost you more at the end of the month if you use them for file exchange / downloads ect..... or any other heavy usage |
