Title: HyperLan2 Post by: andrew on October 01 2008 05:50am Has anyone had any experience of the HyperLAN2 service which CyprusInternet sell? It's Paphos only at the moment, but they did say they planned to spread to Limassol by (the classic) "end of the year".
We can't get ADSL where we are - and I didn't fancy the prices! So the wireless solution would suit us. -Andrew Title: Re: HyperLan2 Post by: efrem on October 02 2008 03:02am ma polla akoume je tpt en ginete. etsi eimaste emeis damesa. mono logia
Title: Re: HyperLan2 Post by: efrem on October 02 2008 05:00am are you taliking about this site ? http://www.cyprusinternet.com.cy
250 euro for installation? come on , they must be joking! Title: Re: HyperLan2 Post by: andrew on October 02 2008 07:23am The monthly fees are €26 - compared with €32 for the Cyta equivalant, and when you cancel the contract you can sell back the hardware for €100. According to my calculations, you'll have saved the installation costs over 2 years - so although it's expensive compared with the UK, it still seems cheap compared with Cyta.
Title: Re: HyperLan2 Post by: efrem on October 02 2008 09:02am wi-max in cyprus? thats great news.
Title: Re: HyperLan2 Post by: andrew on October 02 2008 12:55pm It isn't WiMax, although it's functionally very similar - HyperLan2 is a EU preferred service that practically no-one has launched as a commercial service. I'd be interested to find anyone who actually uses it.
Title: Re: HyperLan2 Post by: efrem on October 03 2008 06:16am their website does not provide sufficient information about their service, (i.e technical specs, hardware information) and uses 5.x GHz spectrum , so I assumemd that it was Wi-Max
