The public hearing by the OCECPR is for wholesale and not retail broadband. Hence it has nothing to do with the planned upgrade by Cyta.


OCECPR has failed to regulate the market so that it promotes competition. The only thing it has achieved is to promote cartels and price fixing.

I suggest everyone sends an email to Viviane Reding (viviane.reding@ec.europa.eu) EU Commissioner for information society and media indicating the current situation in Cyprus.

In fact I was surprised to read the OCECPR's annual report that low speeds and high prices are not the reason for the low broadband penetration in cyprus. The idiots do not realize that you cannot have the chicken without the egg. Raise speeds, bring down the cost and then you will see penetration and content being created to benefit the cypriot society.

To periergo einai pos enas filos  mou me ichoice 1000 katevazi pano apo mia vdomada me 230 kai 200 minimum !!
To thema einai oti otan tsekaro tin grami tou sto speedtest.net vlepo pos exi download 2200 kai 2300 standar kai sto upload tis vgazi error !!!
Auto tora  pano apo dio vdomades pou sinexizete !!! xoris na pai ksana sto 1mb !!!

Milame gia lemeso kentro sxedon polis !!!!

I am trying to clarify things with the OCECPR to see if Cyta's request to increase the i-choice speeds and decrease the prices has been approved or not.

Unfortunately I have been calling for the past 2 days. I have spoken to several people and no one knows whether cyta has even applied or not,or even what I am talking about. Of course what do you expect from the OCECPR who has failed to regulate all the markets he is responsible for.

I managed to talk to the OCECPR today about the planned upgrade.

My initial statement that the public hearing in octomber had nothing to do with the upgrade was wrong. According to the person I have talked to, Cyta needs to do the following
a) Publish Whole Sale prices for its services and the associated procedure so that various interested parties(ie ISPs) can study it
b) The Whole sale prices and associated procedures are discussed in a public hearing(this is scheduled for 13th of Octomber)
c) The OCECPR will evaluate the above and decide whether it will be approved or revised

So to summarize, there is no guarantee there will be an I-Choice upgrade and if there is it will be after October.

Na men tous shezoumen polla apla na tous diksoume oti koftis mas lion !!!
Etsi an gini kalo forwarding ena exoume kati san ipografes stalmenes stin Cyta zitontas eksigisis !!!

Enan kai polla spastiko na gemosoun me ena siggekrimeno email to supprot tous !!!!
