1  Cyprus Broadband / ISP Reviews / Re: Cablenet Reviews on: November 03 2009 08:55am
In the seven years that I have lived in Cyprus I have used Cytanet, Spidernet, Otenet and finally Cablenet. With my fixed IP adddress and access to the router, I am finally able to access access my NAS drive, Slingbox and IP security camera from anywhere in the world.  This is what I have patiently waited for, all those years.

My Slingbox controls my satellite receiver and DVD player giving me the ability to view them on my notebook or Nokia N95 via a wireless internet connection.

Cablenet is surely the best option in Cyprus.

I have recently left Spidernet after two years.  I have no problems with their service other than using I-choice as the ADSL provider.

I have recently switched to Otenet after two years with Net Runner/I-choice and a further two years with Spidernet/I-choice.  I am very pleased with my new connection and the customer service.  For those wishing to use other outgoing mail servers, the answer is to change the port to 587.

Now they have removed the download restrictions and the charge for use of WIFI, I have all I want from my ISP.

I used Net Runner until a couple of years ago when I discovered they use filters that prevented me downloading software updates from legitimate sites.  The tech support staff initially denied it until we convinced we actually KNEW they did so.  I switched to Spidernet but am now planning another change to rid myself of I-Choice, which until recently meant NO-Choice
