i think all operators have the same issues in unlimited term.... .. i used to have vodafone in Greece some years ago and the unlimited for calls was 1500 minutes.. [i think is the same right now too, for all operators..]
We must be careful in contracts with all operators..
Did your friend have any problems with the signal or data service? i m curious to know because MTN promote her new campaign with all these offers and says that you find excellent signal everywhere in Cyprus..

  Τη λειτουργία του υποθαλάσσιου καλωδιακού συστήματος HAWK, επόμενης γενιάς, το οποίο συνδέει τον καλωδιακό σταθμό της PrimeTel με τις εγκαταστάσεις της Reliance στην Μασσαλία της Γαλλίας , ανακοίνωσαν η Reliance Globalcom και η Primetel σε κοινή διάσκεψη Τύπου.

Η PrimeTel, έχει διαθέσει τον σταθμό προσγειάλωσης του HAWK στην Κύπρο. Το υποθαλάσσιο καλωδιακό σύστημα HAWK είναι μέρος του μεγαλύτερου ιδιωτικού καλωδιακού συστήματος του οποίου μοναδικός διαχειριστής και ιδιοκτήτης είναι η Reliance Globalcom. Το HAWK ενώνει τη Μασσαλία (Γαλλία) με την Αλεξάνδρεια (Αίγυπτο) και παράρτημα του τερματίζεται στο νέο καλωδιακό σταθμό που έχει δημιουργήσει η PrimeTel στη βιομηχανική περιοχή Ανατολικού στη Πάφο.

Ο chief executive officer της εταιρείας, Ερμής Στεφάνου, σημείωσε πως η πορεία της εταιρείας για αύξηση της χωρητικότητας θα συνεχιστεί χωρίς βέβαια να αυξάνεται το τέλος για τους πελάτες, κάτι που η εταιρεία είχε κάνει και στο παρελθόν αρκετές φορές. Ήδη, αποκάλυψε πως είναι σε συζητήσεις με πολλές μεγάλες εταιρείες, ωστόσο χαρακτήρισε υπερβολικό το κόστος του ηλεκτρικού ρεύματος λόγω του ότι υπάρχει μόνο ένας πάροχος μέχρι στιγμής.

Παράλληλα, ο κ. Στεφάνου κάκισε και την κατάσταση που είχε δημιουργηθεί όταν ο δήμος Γεροσκήπου αρνήθηκε την κατασκευή του σταθμού στα όρια του με αποτέλεσμα να υπάρξει μεγάλη καθυστέρηση στην λειτουργία του Hawk. «Τέτοιες συμπεριφορές έχουν ως μοναδικό αποτέλεσμα να κλονίζουν και να ζημιώνουν τους ίδιους τους πολίτες», πρόσθεσε.

Το υποθαλάσσιο καλωδιακό σύστημα HAWK ενσωματώνεται με το παγκόσμιο καλωδιακό σύστημα της Reliance Globalcom καθώς και με το Ευρωπαϊκό οπισθοζευκτικό δίκτυο, εκτείνοντας την κάλυψη από την Μασσαλία στο Λονδίνο, το Παρίσι και την Φραγκφούρτη. Με το νέο καλωδιακό σύστημα θα μειωθεί σημαντικά  ο χρόνος αναμονής (latency) μεταξύ της Κύπρου και του Λονδίνου σε σύγκριση με άλλα καλωδιακά συστήματα.

Το καλώδιο HAWK έχει χωρητικότητα 2.7 Τbps, γεφυρώνει απόσταση 3181 χιλιομέτρων ενώ έχει τη δυνατότητα να προσφέρει σύνδεση και με τις ακόλουθες γειτονικές χώρες:

Η προσγειάλωση του υποθαλάσσιου καλωδιακού συστήματος HAWK καθιερώνει την Κύπρο ως σημαντικό τηλεπικοινωνιακό κόμβο στην Ανατολική Μεσόγειο.

Tα υποθαλάσσια καλωδιακά συστήματα οπτικών ινών αποτελούν τη βασική υποδομή του Internet αφού διασυνδέουν τηλεπικοινωνιακά τις χώρες μεταξύ τους.

if you are not a downloader and you are a cyta customer, give a try to their 200mb package for mobile internet. if you create a mygroup with 5 people you get 100mb extra for free. I thought 300mb were not enough and that I would need more than 5gb a month but I don't even use 150mb a month. I am just browsing and using skype, msn and google talk. of course that's for "on the go" as I have a broadband connection at home.
I pay 9 euros per month. also have in mind that the mygroup bonus is not immediately effective but on the 1st of the next month. be careful not to use more than 300mb because you will be charged for extra 100mb even if you used 1 or 5 or 90mb and that's an extra 3 euros per 100mb

There is no contract with this.

I think MTN has something similar which costs 8 euros per month for 250mb but I don't know anything about it as I am not connected with them.
and as a last word, be very careful with MTN contracts. A friend of mine was about to sign a contract for blackberry services with unlimited data

thank you for your feedback... this url links to 3 months free internet connecting to mtn's mobile broadband for 1,5 or 25GB with 24 months contract. Its important what you said about cancellation...

I am not an MTN client but make sure you check whether you are signing a contract which allows the company to change their prices as that scheme is a 2 years contract. also check about the cancellation fees if you decide to end your subscription.
Also in the page you gave us it says 3 months of Free calls

The 3 months free calls correspond to the inclusive data volume of the selected MTN Mobile Broadband plan

there are NO free calls.

I have cablenet 1,5 year.
its the best offer in the Cyprus.
Bat have some problem some times. Its not stabile conection every time.
Have transfering stoped 2-3 min & some time 5 min
In the weekend its slow internet. Of couse all another company have more problem. I compare with internet from roumania. Identikal services (rds-rcs) its for 11 euro end speed its more haier end stable.This problem its not only from cablenet. Problem its b`koze use another company for internet conection (primetel?).
Another inconvenient for alliens its discrimination for deposit (140 euro). I sugest to company to have personal internet servises to no depend of the another monopolist company.
Internet monopolist provider for this countri no interesting to investing more in internet services & like to earn more money for medium quality.
Cable net its first step to have good quality for rezonable prices. Only if cable net depends of the another IT provider situation no chance to change.

So did anyone got something close to 20 ?

if I calculate that when I moved to a new house from cyta to cablenet I didn't have to pay 117.30 euros to transfer the line to the new house and I don't have to pay 16 euros per month, that's more than 13 euros of free calls and I don't really care even if they raise the prices more than cyta. Still, I don't use the landline phone.

I agree it's not good for customers to see a price raise but still CN has lower prices than cyta and don't forget the big difference in monthly subscription (cyta 16 euros, cablenet 3 euros)
