Hi I am thinking of moving to Nicosia from London. I work in software and communicate and run applications in the London office via the internet. I use CheckPoint secure remote so it is important that the ISP does not block this. I will be trying to get the fastest upstream and downstream speeds available, I have 8mbps in the UK, but 1.5Mbps downstream and 256kbps upstream should be sufficient.
Cablenet look good, if expensive, but they are too restricted on location, I don't really want to get a property just on the basis that cablenet are in the area.
I think I-choice business would give me sufficient bandwidth but what is the best ISP to go for? I definitely need Static IP.
How long do these companies take to install after I order? Do they suffer from downtime?
Any help / suggestions appreciated.

Hello andyg,

Is there any particular reason that you are thinking about i-choice business? That kind of setup would cost you about 200 Cyprus pounds per month. If you do need the i-choice business then my suggestion would be Netway, Otenet or WaveSpeed as the ISP.

Cyta might take a few weeks to install i-choice but there will be no additional delay for the ISP. Downtime is very rare unless there is some specific problem in your area.

If the only reasons you are thinking about i-choice business is the bandwidth and the static IP then there are much more cost effective solutions.

If available in your area you could go with one of the new Otenet Packages (on the Otenet network - not on i-choice). You could go with the Xtream package 2Mbps down / 512Kbps up for just 30 pounds per month, or if you want a business solution something like powwwer plus 1.5Mbps down / 384Kbps up for 79 pounds per month.

Another cost effective solution would be packages offered over the Primetel network, such as the FastLane and FastLane Business products of Netway. Something like FastLane1536 Business is cheaper than i-choice business and probably better as well.
