Can anyone help?
I am a frequent visitor to Cyprus and do not have a "Land line" telephone, I rely on my mobile (SoEasy pay as u Go) which is great and good reception. However I want to use my laptop to connect to the internet and send emails etc. What is the best way to do this? Baring in mind:
 * I want pay as you go (unless cheap enough to pay when not in Cyprus)
 * Speed/reception is good in Paralimni village
 * Is it best to connect via my mobile phone (Samsung Omnia)or with a USB mobile.
Thanks
Dave

i don't know about the costs of the roaming data plans on 3G networks but the usb mobile device the provider gives you does the exactly the same job as a good mobile.
All mobile phones supprort GPRS/EDGE/UMTS/HSPA/ and 3G data
so there is no need of buying any equipment for the telecommunications provider. It's a complete rip off.
Just connect the phone to the pc using a usb cable and your good to go. In general 3G connection is good in every town plus there are some free wi-fi networks in the open

You can connect to the internet with soeasy and your phone but the cost is high, over 2 Euro per Megabyte.

Other solutions would require a contract.

Thanks to both of you for your reply.
One further question: Efrem, you mention "free Wi-Fi networks in the open" How popular and where are these located in Cyprus.
Thanks again

i mean you can't find free wi-fi networks in parks and so on but you can always scan for wi-fi networks that are unlocked (residential or not) and most of them are just outside your house because most people doesn't secure their connections.

Thanks once again efrem. I didn't really expect to find a connection in the park !! but I never thought of finding an unsecured line, good idea.
