Hi guys

like many other users in cyprus, im having trouble selecting which ISP to go for.

In the past I have used Cyta-netrunner. A year ago I switched to Primetel. I wasn't happy with them either so now that my contract ended I decided to cancel it, since Cablenet have recently moved into my area  Smiley

Unfortunately I live on the top floor of a building, and the only way for Cablenet to connect with us is by having a fat black wire hanging over my veranda which doesn't look nice and the other tenants will not approve either  Undecided

Is there anything else you nice people could suggest?
I would need a decent speed since I'm addicted to the internet....
Whos Wavespeed and how does it work? Never heard of them before. Seems like I would be paying even more than what Cyta charges if i go with them.... Am I right?

Please help ....
I haven't had internet at home for a week now
cant take it anymore hehehe

Hello,

Maybe if you talked to Cablenet they could arrange that wire to be placed in a better way?

Apart from that you could try DSL Access (i-choice) + Wavespeed. Wavespeed is the same company as Cablenet and the only package they offer is a 4Mbps one, and this is why it will be more expensive.

Another reasonable alternative would be Otenet. You could try i-choice + Otenet, or you could try to go exclusively with Otenet over their own network if they cover your area. Note that if you go with this last route you will not have a TV option like you do with i-choice (cytavision), Primetel and Cablenet.

to be honest wavespeed has the cheapest 4mb package out there. if you choose adsl i strongly suggest it. been a customer of them before moving to cablenet nothing but good words to say.

So if Cablenet covers you, put an enclosure box in your balcony and route the cables thru there if you do not want to disturb your neighbors with the wiring

Problem solved!  Smiley
Cablenet crew came by and we found an alternative. They are going through the back of the building. No verandas there Smiley

Thank you for all your feedback.

I heard good things about Cablenet. I hope I dont get disappointed again.

Btw we are really getting ripped off in Cyprus from ISPs aren't we!
Is there a government body or something official that we could complain to?

Cablenet is the best by far.
Cyprus politicians does not give a shit about broadband in cyprus and this must change immendiadly.
There was going to be an agreement from Microsoft and IBM to pass some fiber optics in Nicosia and the city hall turn it down! What a shame
