Hmmm, ok then i will give it a shot. I will go for the 6Mbit & digital channels because it's only 49euro against the 59 i pay only for 2Mbits at PT. This could take some time though, How long?  A month i guess. ANW, i'll keep this thread posted as to what happens on the way till the installation. Lets hope the come quick but i doubt they will.

Thanks efrem

Ok, Where shall i start?

Finally 28 days later( Shocked like the movie) they came and done the installation. Surprisingly, it went quite easy.

All looks good.

1) 6.6Mbits on speedtest.net
2) A download average of 800Kbps  Grin give or take 10-15Kbps.
3) The TV channels are looking good up to now.
4) Upload rate at around 100Kbps.

The only thing that's troubling me is on torrents. I cant get good speeds(max at around 100). I've accessed the modem and opened the port for utorrent and utorrent says that the port is being forwarded OK but still doesn't pump the way it should.

Anyway il figure it out.

Efrem did you do anything else to make your torrents work as they should?

Thanks.

Forget about torrents file
go to http://tehparadox.com and register.
You can find anything there and with a good program like jdownloader you can download from various mirror parallel and you can get speeds up to 700KB/ps from that.
Torrents are always slow in compare to direct downloads. Don't forget now that pirate bay is closes torrents always suffer from low speeds. No port forwarding is necessary with cablenet.  But always remember that with torrents the upload speed of others is the speed that you can get.

It's ok now, im getting an average speed of 400-450Kbps on torrents if there's good seeders. I signed up at tehparadox.com and it looks good(I've already d/l a couple of games  Wink ) but still i haven't got a premium account on RS or MU so some links d/l with 30-40Kbps. I tried Jdownloader but i think il stick to free-rapid it's much easier and updates frequently. Anw, thanks for your advise Efrem.

Oh and P.S The modem that they gave me was blocking all the ports, I had to manually forward them. Yes, cablenet has their ports open(unlike primetel where you had to change your ip to 2.10  Shocked ), but the modem didn't forward them.

Hi ice007.

What problems had you read about in your original post that worried you about Cablenet?

The Cablenet Internet speed has been really crap lately, (I've been with them for about 5 years!) especially during peak hours, and they told me they were going to do an upgrade last Friday. I'm wondering if this was a known issue and if things have improved for others too.

Efrem, would you care to comment?

Tony.

Well a friend of mine that has cablenet had some problems before, At first when they came and did the installation it was fine, he was getting good speeds. Then, after 3 or 4 months his speeds where awful as low as 10-15Kbps, and his constant calls to cablenet were ignored until he moved 2 months later. And as i was reading in the forums a couple of other guys had some problems.

But anyway up to now i haven't had any major problems and i hope it stays that way.

Oh and as i recall there was a day that the internet was abit down and the channels had no signal, i dont remember if it was Friday though.

Yeah i remember that day the internet was down and i was calling all afternoon and the call sender respond that all the lines were busy.
Also i was having some issues with my wireless router and i had to buy a new one (because i have the Arris CM which is not wireless|). Finally i got Linksys WRT160N which is a wireless N model and problem fixed.
I have to comment that my new router runs perfectly and i have no problem sharing speeds with 2 pc's and various applications because it has QoS build in.
Ice007  if you find good links @ tehparadox you should get good speeds during non peak times. Right now i am downloading with 650-700KB/ps.
