Guys,  after two days of missinformation from Cablenet (again!).  I have come to the following conclusion wrt watching PIK HD (i.e World Cup in HD!).  The HD box they have does not support it but they say that they send the signal over the cable and with a DVB-T enabled tv or a DVB-T decoder you should be able to watch PIK HD.  Does anyone have any success with this?  Cheers.

No, PIK(Cybc) will broadcast the world cup in HD not Cablenet over their new digital HD channel PIKHD.  All you need is either a TV with DVB-T tuner (Mpeg4) or a HD STB which you can get from Bionic, Stefanis etc.  The signal is broadcast over the air to 70% of Cyprus (I think no Pafos as yet) it is also broadcast over Cablenet cable.

Well, I have a new TV with both DVB-T GD and DVB-C HD and searched all requencies available on cablenet, both Terestrial and Cable but no RIK HD. I was anly able to get 7 digital channels from LTV (even LTVSportsHD). I called twice calbenet and they insist that they transmit RIK HD over the cable. Is it hidden? Do I have to look in any other place (in the cabinets, drawers Huh)?
Did anyone find RIK HD over cablenet.
I really hade the fact that I'll have to install an aerial antenna again just to get RIK HD.

That is very strange indeed.  Both my friend and I get PIK HD over cablenet.  I use a STB as my TV is 5 years old, my friend has DVB-T Mpeg4 tv.  It is definitely there together with digital transmission of PIK1, PIK2, EuroNews and ERT SAT!

I had the same problem with cablenet (i.e they insist you can do an analogue search and you should find RIK-HD provided your TV supports mpeg4). This did not work.
I managed to receive RIK-HD with the following way:

  • Disconnect the Cablenet cable from your TV
  • Connect it to the old aerial antenna
  • Perform a DIGITAL channel search on your TV (you should be able to find RIK-HD amongst other digital channels)
  • Save the channels and reconnect the CableNet cable

You should now be able to watch RIK-HD from the saved Digital channels.

It worked for me. I have a SONY Bravia KDL-32W4000.

Yes, on an MPEG4 TV you can find the channel without problem.
The thing is that we do not have an MPEG4 TV and we hoped we could use the HD Receiver as an MPEG4 Receiver.
Unfortunately we can’t.
I don’t understand why. Huh

Cablenet is now charging 5 more euros for the HDTV.
My bill that comes every month is been 45 for a year now
39 for 5Mb + 6 for the digital Tv = 45 euros
This month came 50
I check the bill and see the additional 5 euros for Digital HDTV.
Because i dont watch much TV i call them and say that i dont need them because only 2 chanells in HD are not worth the extra charge and they said that i must bring the decoder back and get a new one and so on....
That's a shame. They charge you more with out notifying you. Plus i cant get rid of the additional charge with out keeping my KAON KTSC-S660HD receiver.
Btw what receivers Cablenet now gives with Digital TV?
