500KB/S FROM I-CHOICE 1000 !!

Hi,

I don't know what happened tonight but suddenly I started to download with speeds between 300 and 400KB/s and sometimes it reaches 500KB/s!! I have 1Mbit i-choice + Otenet for ISP. Until now I used to download at around 100KB/s.

This afternoon my connection sucked. I was trying to watch some Youtube video and it was buffering every 3 minutes! And now this!

Such speeds are even more than the 2Mbit upgrade they are promising. So what happened?? If it is some mistake then I hope they will not fix it!  Grin

now the download is crap again  Sad



This morning at around 8:30 it was still good with about 2500Kbps but now I don't even get the 1Mbit i should!! At least the upload is still high. What is going on?  Huh

I'm not holding my breath. I'll be glad to see some kind of speed increase to get us back into broadband speeds again. 1mbit is narrowband these days, even 2mbit is hardly broadband. ADSL2+ means something in most countries, not here though.

The regulator is actually guilty of keeping Cyprus behind when it comes to Internet Access. Primetel have had the opportunity to get more customers and now it has to be the turn of Cyta to actually be allowed to compete.

It was constant at around 400KB/s when I was making that download. But in general is not constant. At off peak hours I can get very good speeds but at peak hours it sucks. Now it is noon on Saturday and I get good speeds.



But also I noticed it depends on how I download. If I download somehting from a torrent then I get very high speeds. If I try to watch a movie from youtube for example is not good. I don't know... I guess they are testing things.

This is what I think they are doing: They gave to some people higher speeds. They are testing with giving 2.5Mbit or even 5Mbit. At not peak hours these people can use the maximum of their speed. At peak hours there is not enough bandwidth for all of us so the speeds suck.

probably they are making some final tests before the upgrade to see the bandwidth and the modems if they work properly...when you are making a speed test its better to make it with some distance not pick up the server which is closer to you

I have 4mbps and only at 1-2am i can achieve 400kbps, most of the times are 100KB, 200KB and sometimes 300KB
