Update 03/09/07: The upgrade of i-choice has been postponed. We will keep you informed with any further developments.The Cyprus Telecommunications Authority, CyTA, is upgrading the speed of its ADSL Internet broadband connection service, i-Choice, with the home 1000 package going up from 128 kbps to 256 kbps on September 1 and the BusinessLite package from 128 to 512 kbps.
The upgrades will be concluded by the end of November, while the downstream speed for both packages remains at 1 Mbps.
Meanwhile, CyTA also announced that it is introducing two new higher speed packages in September, the Home i-Choice2000 with 2 Mbps downstream and 512 kbps upstream, and the i-Choice BusinessPlus with 4 Mbps downstream and 512 kbps upstream.
The connection charge is CYP 46 (EUR 78.66) for the Home i-Choice2000 that also carried a monthly subscription fee of CYP 23 (EUR 39.33), while the connection charge for the i-Choice BusinessPlus is CYP 115 (EUR 171) and the monthly subscription is CYP 97.75 (EUR 167.15).
Existing subscribers of the Home package will be able to upgrade to i-Choice2000 free of charge until December 1, while i-Choice Business customers can upgrade to i-Choice Business4000 free of charge, also until December 1.
